Walk by Shooting

February 4, 2008 – 8:50 pm

A simple project borne out of a walk from Summerhill Row to Lancaster Circus. Whilst a few elements of the Birmingham Subways project are present these are just a cross over of images and are not linked.

Year in Pictures

February 4, 2008 – 8:42 pm

This project was actually formed on the Amateur Photographer website.  The idea was…..

Following a suggestion in the Lounge, we are going to try our own little version of a Radio 4 PM programme photography project. The idea is to get as many of you as possible to take a picture on a given day, and then post them here. It will run monthly, and if it proves popular we should build up an interesting (hopefully!) photographic log of the daily activities of forum members. Our version is to be called FirstView, and will run throughout 2007.

The first day of each month will be designated as as FirstView days. The idea is that on the day you will produce a picture that captures some part of your day - it could be some activity, or a place you went to, or something that was happening around you, or just about anything that says something about your day. We don’t need a title, but we’d like to know the basic details of your picture - time, place, activity, etc.

This was a successful thread and has continued for a second year.

The link to AP thread is here.

My images can be found on my photography website here.

Old BullRing

February 4, 2008 – 12:34 am

Project brief:

This is actually an old project which I’ve recently revisited thanks to my film scanner. The Old Bull Ring (Birmingham, UK) was a tired 1960’s design. Concrete and tunnels. It had character, but sadly It also had a ring road around a fair part of it. Nothing much of it (if any) remains. The project is divided in to two distinct parts.

  1. The original images.
  2. An attempt to shoot from the same location.

It might be a tricky 2nd part, I need to find an decent aerial source of the location pre-demolition.
