Discovered this fairly recently. Snowhill in Birmingham is currently one huge construction site. The Snowhill 1 building is currently looking like a building, so not much to document there. However the Snowhill 3 (Snowhill 2 will be constructed later) construction is still a big hole. For the last month or so I have been shooting the construction. At last something has started to appear. The main building core has started to rise. Still not much to look, but I get the feeling this will grow quick.

So after what seems to have been a month (cos that’s what it was) I’ve finally got round to looking and sorting the new bull ring images.

A small selection here….

Out of the 36 I wanted to shoot only 18 were available (Mainly as shops were built on the other parts!). Initially I’ll be looking at web based project, with a move to using all 36 original images in a book. Along with this more colour images obtained during this shoot. So a fair few before and after images, though only 18 to directly compare against.

Still, the tricky part is over.

I know the blog has only been up a week, but I’ve had a few issues with losing the database in this time. This was not entirely unexpected as my other blog (personal) was experiencing the same since a server update. Well, It does seem that the latest fix I have seems to have solved it. Since the modification of a system file, the faulty blog started to work.

Now I have a test blog which I haven’t modified yet, this is still down. Though once the server is rebooted it will come back up. But it does look stable. The server is due for re-installation to fix a number of other long standing issues. However I have a temporary server which will be running this site whilst the update takes place.

Had a stroke of luck with regards to aerial images. Actually something better than an aerial shot, I managed to obtain (via a legal source!) some computer maps from a database. These have quite a high level of detail (for the A4 size).

However, this new data has made me realise something. Most of where I shot is now covered with the new bull ring. Some of the locations are still in the public area, some appear to be now within the shopping centre itself. The BullRing management are meant to be quite tolerant of Photography (Or so I’ve heard, though I heard Selfridges can be a bit funny. But again It’s web talk, so probably complete and utter rubbish). So I’ll attempt to contact the Bull Ring people myself. I have a source in the Bullring, so initial contact maybe a bit easier.
